Antifoam, Defoamers, or Defoamers are chemical compounds used to prevent foam formation in industrial liquid and fluid processes.
They are added to products to prevent foam formation or to break down existing foam. Foams pose serious problems because they cause surface coating defects, prevent efficient filling of containers, and many other similar issues.
The terms “antifoam” and “defoamer” are often used interchangeably. Commonly used substances include insoluble oils, polydimethylsiloxanes and other silicones, certain alcohols, stearates, and glycols.
